EXPERTISE
BUMPZOID
BumpZoid is a small award-winning architectural firm that has built its reputation on design and service. For over thirty years, our concentration has been on quality residential and commercial renovation work ranging from intimate custom furnishings to multi-floor offices and millions of dollars of construction. Our work is known for its intelligent detail, clarity of thought, and handsome design. The combination of residential and commercial experience is complimentary, making our work liveable yet disciplined. Personal attention of our clients and their wants and an intimate knowledge of the construction process insure that the final product is a direct reflection of the original vision.
BumpZoid began in 1975 as a part time Design/Build firm formed by Ben Benedict and Carl Pucci. Within five years our focus turned to Design work only. Ben Benedict was a partner in all work until 1995.
SERVICES
Among the services we offer are program formulation, feasibility studies, preliminary planning, design development, construction documentation including complete drawings and workable specifications, and continuous construction administration. We visit potential sites to evaluate conditions and develop a program directly with client, staff and consultants. BumpZoid serves as consulting review architect for Coop and Condo boards throughout New York City.
We have long standing relationships with structural and mechanical engineers, and consult regularly with specialty consultants in code, lighting, acoustics, landscape planning, historic preservation, and interiors, etc. We work closely with local artisans, specialty contractors, as well as the largest construction firms in New York on work at all scales.
Our advocacy on urban planning issues has lead to publications, awards and association with national leaders in planning and resiliency.
