Klaksvik occupies a spectacular site in the North Atlantic, a small flat Isthmus connecting two inlets, the Harbour and Bay, between steeply sloped islands. While the brief called for a new town center, harbour redevelopment, and a festival site, our concern was the slow degradation of the town's origin and identity-- the isthmus. Accordingly we proposed a forty year plan that would re-establish Isthmus Park as iconic public space and the concentrated center of all town activities, again linking to the open waters.
