Dean House

An existing structure was pared down to its essential box by removing past additions and by razing the roof. Our response to the clients' dreams of a seaside shingle style house (albeit on a suburban lake in Michigan) was to envelop the older structure in a round of new additions. These new constructions are a series of favorite BZ forms, here in Richardsonian flavor, which accommodate various new programatic renovations and expansion.

The entire assemblage was then blanketed under a new roof to form an ideocratic modern shingled 'cottage'. Unfortunately, a mid-project job transfer to arid L.A. dashed the dream of coastal New England on the rocks.
