Jacobson & Triggs Law Offices

Existing cast iron columns and vaulted ceilings provided an attractive framework for the installation of law books and layers in this 10,000 square foot raw loft overlooking Foley Square. To maximize, height, reception/secretarial room, and lighting is bounced off the vaults and maple floors.

The impinging needs of the city grid on the one hand and of conference space on the other shape the parallelogrammatic secretarial pool. Otherwise the planning is simple and the decor spare. Perimeter offices were glazed (with the expediency of doors) to allow for fair trade of light, views, and communication. Along one leg lie the senior offices, no two configured alike and each entered by an array of doors. A second wing of smaller offices terminates in a rental trial suite for out-of-town attornies.

The oblique intersection of parallelogram and vault curve inspired the proportional divisions on doors and the entry window wall, marking indelible musings on the analysis of form.
