Professional Textile Brokerage Offices

An office for textile brokers in the Empire State Building, this project is an attempt to recapture some of the original spirit of Lamb's 1931 design.

A moderne theme is struck in plan with the Empire State Building silhouette outlined in black and white marble. The diagonal hall allows for the insertion of a reception area, storage, and glassed conference room, along the windowless interior walls. High ceilings, large windows, and no-nonsense fixtures in the working areas contrast with the hallway jazz. The change is accompanied by paling colors, material devaluation, and lighting gender switch.

The office focal point is a gilded statue of a siren abducting a young boy. (it is an all female office.)
